Lightwave Enterprises Specializes in Single Point Diamond Turning

Lightwave uses Single Point Diamond Turning (SPDT) processes to rapidly prototype and to produce limited runs of extremely precise:

  • Spheres
  • Aspheres
  • Parabolic Mirrors
  • Cylinders
  • Conics
  • Plano Optics and Assemblies
  • Simple Toroids for New & Existing Programs.

The Moore Nanotechnology Systems 350 Ultra Precision Lathe that LEI uses is one of the most accurate lathes available today. With machine resolution of 0.4µ" (10nm) coupled with on-board profilometry, the lathe enables Lightwave technicians to generate and verify optical surfaces with surface and form accuracies to the sub-micron level and surface roughness measured down to the angstrom level.

Perfect for Prototyping and Limited Runs

Diamond Turning is the perfect solution to address the high expenses of prototype tooling. Our Diamond Turning services will save you time and development costs because plastic optical designs can be created on our Diamond Turning System without the added first step of creating an expensive injection mold.

Diamond Turning is also well suited for the manufacture of precision plastic optics in limited quantities.
